The principal objective is the development of key technologies aimed at reducing environmental impact, and improving the efficiency of Unmanned Airborne Vehicle (UAV) incorporating ‘step change’ technological advances applied to the whole life cycle. This project presents a large, complex scientific and technological challenge requiring the mobilization of large scale, interdisciplinary industrial and scientific resources.

The SINTONIA project (Unmanned Systems with Zero Environmental Impact) is a CENIT project whose main aim is scientific research to acquire new knowledge and develop key enabling technologies to reduce environmental impact and increase efficiency of Unmanned Aircraft by introduction of improvements throughout their life cycle. The investigation will focus its efforts in the fields of Materials (ecological and smart), Processes (design, fabrication and inspection), Platforms (configuration, structures, energy and useful load), Operation (launching and recovering, energy management, communications and navigation, earth systems) and Recycling.

TTI role:
TTI is responsible to investigate and develop technologies focused on active flat antennas for satellite communications of the UAV. The antenna will have high efficiency, low weight and consumption, and low aerodynamic impact.
